LOST DUTCHMAN MUSEUM

What do you do when your family pops into town?   You take them on an adventure to Lost Dutchman at the base of Superstition Mountain.

“Superstition Mountain Museum is located in an area full of legend, history and intrigue. You’ll find us in the rugged 160,000 acre Superstition Mountain range in the Tonto National Forest in Central Arizona. Our focus is on providing visitors with an experience of the Old West. We provide an historical context that includes the region’s Native American people, the life of early western settlers, local geology and industry as well as the legends promoted through film and media”.

APACHELAND MOVIE RANCH

The Apacheland Movie Ranch has a stage coach and outbuildings that help depict the rich history of Arizona.  Do you want to see where some of your favorite westerns were filmed?  Are you an Elvis fan? The white Chapel was used in “Charro” but also known as the Elvis Chapel.  Do you need a special place for your wedding vows or renewals?   Go ahead and book your reservation.

MUSEUM RAILROAD EXHIBIT

Are you looking for something where you and your kids can interact but learn some history at the same time? Check out the museum’s railroad exhibit. It offers a fun kid friendly scavenger that the whole family can enjoy and learn the history of Arizona.   Arizona has a lot of history in Copper, Cotton, Citrus, Cattle and Lumber.

Continue your adventure on the Apache Trail on Hwy 88.  Take your time and drive through the narrow switchbacks. Enjoy the panoramic views of the valley of the Apache Trail.

CANYON LAKE

This body of water was formed by the Salt River and the Salt River’s Project (SRP) harnessing of the surrounding water.  SRP offers a lot of information on the lakes that have been formed and the benefits of harnessing this energy.  https://www.srpnet.com/grid-water-management/water-management/lakes/mormon-flat-dam-canyon-lake

Do enjoy boating, fishing and scenic hikes? Well then, you will totally enjoy this gem of an adventure.  Bring your appetite and enjoy lunch or dinner at theTortilla Flat Saloon.  This saloon is a busy place so there may be a wait, but no worries there are interesting shops and views while you wait.
