Simple Life Big Style

As retirement looms many of us are seeking a simple life but big in style.   Tiny living, Van Life, RV Living, Life on the Road… no matter what you call it this phenomenon is taking, not just Americans, but the world by storm.   I have been following this type of lifestyle for the last couple of years.  I find it intriguing and exciting to say the least.  I hope to be joining this movement in the next couple of years.  Interested in finding out more?  Meet the Hixson’s.

Retirement to Newlyweds

The Hixon’s are not a couple facing retirement, but young newlyweds. They share their first year of life on the road.   Oh the adventures they have had.  Check out their documentary on YouTube to see firsthand how it all started for them and their adventures with their “little piggy” Mose.  Newly Nomads (2021) – Full Documentary | Wild Hixsons | Full-time RV Travel Documentary.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7y_mfYweSI

There are so many stories like the Hixon’s.  Just search YouTube for inspiring videos of those living on the road. I learned a new term “boon docking”. Not sure if that is how I would want to live on the road, but maybe for a night or two.  If you love remote living boon docking might be for you.  Watching these adventures may give you the bug to be a nomad too.  What excites you as you think about living a more fulfilling life?  Dream Big, Live Simple but with Big Style!

Lifestyle On The Road

Living on the road used to be a lifestyle that only a few took on full time.  Travel photographers, salesmen, musicians and ball players were living life in hotels or buses and moving from town to town.   But, thanks to the pandemic “tiny” living has opened the door for many people of all ages to live a more simple and adventurous life on the road yet big on style. Full sized RV’s offer all the benefits of a brick and mortar home.

Now, home no longer needs to be brick and mortar but can be anywhere you choose.  RV living allows for new views, new destinations, new adventures and new people every day.  The commute is no longer a boring trek to the office, but anywhere.  What adventures would you seek if you could live on the road?  Living a simple life on the road can be done in Big Style!

RV Statistics

The Rvtravel.com/study shows in 2020 there were 11.2 million U.S. households that owned an RV but only 5.5 million are 55 or older.   5.7 million owners are under 54 and that range is mostly made up of 18-34 year olds.  Of those that own RVs, it is estimated that more than 1 million Americans live in them full-time.   So with those stats you will see a wide variety of ages on the road.  Do these stats make you think you might want to add some new adventure to your life?

50 years ago when families traveled across the USA on vacation they knew that it would be short lived and then…. back to reality. But with the internet and social media creating many new jobs, the options have changed our world immensely.   Of course the pandemic pushed the options to a new level and now the “work and learn from home” allow us more opportunities to live the National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation for ourselves.

Basic to Luxury RV Living

RV’s are no longer basic vehicles with a bed and refrigerator.  The adventures that can be experienced with living life in an RV today allows for almost anything. The RV’s or Adventure Vans that people are living in now offer almost all the benefits of a full home.  Bedrooms, bathrooms, solar panels, washer and dryer, internet and TV’s are just a few things available in upgraded RV’s.   Perhaps living a more simple life with fewer things but some upgraded amenities would make this lifestyle easier.  What adventure would entice you to hit the road?   You just might meet the Griswold on their Great Christmas Vacation.
